Adopt a lynx
The existence of the Euroasian Lynx in the Adria region is in danger. Adopt a lynx and support our work.
This spectacular cat – which disappeared from our territory in the past – has been reintroduced and today we are worried about their future. Barely 130 individuals of Euroasian lynx remain in the wilds of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia, and the population is under threat because of poaching, a poor prey base and habitat fragmentation.

Adopt a lynx, support our work
Animal adoptions like yours give a huge boost to our work. Your symbolic adoption supports our work. You’re supporting science projects that monitor the behavior and population health of carnivores like lynxes. With our partners, we have supported building the lynx enclosure (48 m2) in the Risnjak National Park in Croatia, to safely retain lynx cubs until they become healthy and sufficiently independent to be released into nature.
Did you know?
The major threat to lynx conservation is genetic. Due to re-introduction of the lynx in the 1970s, all lynxes mating in our region are related and they urgently need a new gene pool.
Our region is also home to the Balkan lynx, a very small, completely isolated population, which lives in North Macedonia in habitats with a poor prey base. This population is one of the most endangered in Europe today.
Learn more about the lynx
The Eurasian lynx can be considered quite a secretive creature because it is most active during the night. The sounds it makes are very loud. Despite this, their presence in an area can go unnoticed for years!
In the wild, the Eurasian lynx can survive up to 17 years. Captive Eurasian lynx in sanctuaries have been known to live to up to 24 years.
